50 years ago, Rev. Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr called for a “revolution of values” to confront poverty and systemic racism in America. Now, the unfinished work of the 1968 Poor People’s Campaign is being taken up again with the May 14 launch of 40 days of action and advocacy in 30 state capitols and in Washington, DC. Those of us in Colorado are encouraged to accompany the Campaign through 40 days of study and discussion, prayer and reflection to update our awareness and prepare for the multi-year effort “to help us become the nation we’ve not yet been.” The Campaign has issued a highly informative report on the status of economic injustice entitled “The Souls of Poor Folk”. The Justice and Witness Ministries of the national UCC is proud to be a national partner of the Poor People’s Campaign and has provided this website (UCC Poor People’s Campaign) for additional information and study resource.
