In Memory

In memory of the more than 500,000 people who died from COVID-19 and in honor of their families and the frontline workers who have risked their lives in service to others, members and friends of First Congregational Church folded thousands of origami butterflies and stitched them together to rise to the rafters of our Sanctuary and to fill the windows of our hallway Link. The names of people who died and were ill this past year and our prayers for healing and hope were gently folded inside the fragile paper. The Butterfly Memorial was dedicated in worship on Easter Sunday, April 4, 2021.

When ten beloved Boulder neighbors were killed on March 22, 2021 in the violence at King Soopers on Table Mesa Drive, we also lifted ten strands in the Sanctuary and ten in the Link to remember them.

Thank you to the many who labored to fill our spaces with such love and beauty. May God take our grief and transform it into healing love.
