Together in shared learning, searching conversations, and sacred reading, we explore what it means to be loved by God and in turn, to love God with “all our heart, soul, mind, and strength” and “to love our neighbors as ourselves.”

Sundays, 9:30 a.m.
Between our two morning worship services, adults gather for forums on a variety of topics. Organizations from the wider community with whom we share a common mission talk with us about their work. Ministries of our church invite members into conversation about shared concerns. In Art Lectionary classes, we explore religious art through centuries related to the Scripture texts for the day or the season.

Small groups are a primary way for us to build an interconnected community where we know and are known by others and where we have the chance to grow in faith and wisdom. When we nurture intentional relationships with one another, we embody a relational God – a God made known in the life and ministry of Jesus, who said, “Wherever two or three are gathered in my name, I am there among them.”

1st, 3rd, and 5th Wednesdays, 5:30 – 6:45 p.m.
This group is designed as an open study so that you can come any time you are able and receive something that can enrich your day and help you to feel a part of our community. Sign up and we will send you a reminder of each study, and the text for that day.

4th Fridays, 6 – 8 p.m.
Fellowship of the Grape (FOG) is an ongoing monthly gathering of over-21 church members or visitors to share wine (or non-alcoholic beverages) and get to know each other informally.

3rd Fridays, 6:45 – 8:30 p.m.
The Movie Group gathers once a month to discuss a well-made, award-winning, critically acclaimed movie with a message. Similar to a book discussion group, group members watch the movie on our own and then meet to discuss it. Selections are announced at least 2 weeks in advance. Recommendations — current or classic, mainstream or art-house, domestic or international — are always welcome.

Wednesdays, 10:30 a.m. – noon
Have you ever considered writing a memoir? The goal of each member of these groups is to better our writing skills through the practice of writing about our own lives. We write in response to a weekly “prompt” and then read our vignettes to the group.

Fridays, 7 – 8:30 a.m.
Men’s Breakfast is an open community of men who have a heart for our church community and our world. Every week we have conversations that take a heart and head approach, inviting both personal and communal transformation.

Tuesdays, noon – 1:30 p.m.
This group of women gathers to deepen their spiritual understanding through conversation, reading, and engaging deeply on subjects that affect our world and our relationships.

1st and 3rd Thursdays, 1:30 – 3 p.m.
Wonder Women is an ongoing “drop in” group of women who meet twice monthly to share thoughts and experiences on “the meaning of life” after age 60. The group chooses a book to read and comes together to share thoughts, experiences, and questions from our reading.

Small groups form and re-form throughout the year. Books studies, Bible studies, groups focused on a special topic or theme come together now and then to meet for a few weeks or a liturgical season. We’ve hosted Living Room Conversations and Community Conversations with the City of Boulder, offered workshops on Connecting Communities through conversational skill building, and hosted film talk-backs on challenging subjects.

If you have something you’d like to explore with others, contact Associate Pastor Linda Kowatch, linda@firstcong.net, to make a request and we’ll see if we can gather a group to join you.

Annual Retreats for Women and Friends in Allenspark in February and for Men and Friends in Estes Park are highlights of the church year. These weekends away provide room for unhurried conversations, deeper sharing, and spiritual reflection.

Friday, 3/15 at 6 PM – Sunday, 3/17 at 11 AM
The Beatles sang, “I get by with a little help from my friends” and that is the theme of this year’s Men’s Retreat March 15-17, 2024 at the YMCA of the Rockies in Estes Park. The retreat cost $185.00 with partial and full scholarships available. Click here to register. Email Peter Oakes or Linda Kowatch for more info.

College students, grad students, and young professionals (ages 18-20s & 30s) gather with one another now and then for good conversation and good food, to play games, hike together, and give back to the community. For more information contact Associate Pastor Pedro Silva, pedro@firstcong.net.
