First Congregational Church (FCC) welcomes all people, no matter where you are on your spiritual journey. The Membership Committee is essential to this effort. Hospitality and acceptance are hallmarks of our church community. Everyone is invited to participate in our vital and growing congregation.

Through the Membership Committee, our church offers opportunities all year long to learn about our church, our activities and our programs. A great place to start is by visiting our Welcome Table for Visitors sponsored by the Membership Committee. On Sunday, the sign and the table are in the entrance of the sanctuary along with a friendly member before the 10:15 Worship Service. This is an easy, no-pressure way to learn more about our church, ask your questions, and receive information. There is another Welcome Table during the Fellowship Time following the 10:15 Worship Service in the Fellowship Hall. The only Sunday when we don’t have the second table is on the fourth Sunday when we host the Soup Kitchen, serving lunch for persons who are homeless. You can also attend our Prospective Member Retreats that are held quarterly. This is an interactive, fun, informative, educational, and sharing time with the Senior Minister, Chris Braudaway-Bauman, the Associate Pastor, Pedro S. Silva II, and the program staff, Kajsa Teitelbaum with music, Eli McCutchen with youth, and Deborah Voss with Christian Education.

The Retreat is held on a Sunday afternoon in the FAITH Center. It is sponsored by the Membership Committee who will offer some refreshments and childcare is available. Everyone who wants to know more about our church, our Christian faith, what it means to be a member, and wants to take a tour of the facilities is invited to explore how our church may become your church home. The gatherings are an excellent way to meet others who are also just getting to know our church. The Sunday following the Retreat is New Member Sunday and those who have decided to join our church are introduced to the congregation and then are extended our Covenant of Welcome. Afterwards, everyone is invited to join us for our regular Fellowship Hour where we offer a warm welcome to our new members. Information will be in the Sunday morning bulletin. For more information, or to sign up for the Retreat, please contact Julie Griffitts, chair of the Membership Committee.
