Our Endowment Funds

Our life together is enhanced by seven Endowment Funds.

Benevolence Fund supports the congregation’s ministries of service, compassion, and social justice, providing grants to organizations that are in keeping with the church’s covenants. It also funds our social justice ministries in climate action, gun violence prevention, mental health/accessible to all, LGBTQ+, and racial justice.

Capital Needs provides funds for the maintenance and management of our facilities so that our buildings can continue to be a vital resource for our congregation and the wider community.

MacKenzie Lectureship, founded in honor of Rev. Bruce MacKenzie, Senior Minister 1970-1997, and his wife Jeanette, provides the opportunity for prominent guest speakers in theology and social concerns to visit us for a weekend of lectures and workshops.

Music provides funds for the congregation’s vibrant ministries of congregational and choral singing and instrumental music.

McMane Arts, founded in honor of Rev. Martie McMane, Senior Minister 2000-2016, supports our Arts Ministry, providing opportunities at the intersection of creativity and spirituality.

Sawyer Organ supports an annual organ concert in honor of Jane Sawyer, Director of Music 1997-2012, and provides funds to maintain our Sanctuary and Chapel organs.

Voss Camp Fund, founded in honor of Deborah Voss, Director of Christian Education, 1997-2023, is a scholarship fund to help families cover the cost of sending their children to church camps and retreats.

Ways to Give to the Endowment

Give While You Live

Gifts made now build the endowments and give immediate returns to the church. We’ve made it possible for you to give to an Endowment Fund now.

Give to Endowment

Legacy or Planned Gifts

Legacy or Planned Gifts are planned during the donor’s lifetime but not realized by the church until the donor’s death.

There are many ways to plan a gift, including gifts that pay you income during your lifetime and gifts that help reduce or avoid income and estate taxes. How you make your gift is important, but more important is the impact your planned gift will have on the causes that matter most to you. Legacy, Planned Gifts, and Bequests options are complex and should be discussed with your professional advisors.

Here are several options you can consider discussing with your estate planning and financial advisors:

  • Charitable Annuities, such as the UCC UCF Charitable Gift Annuity;
  • Beneficiary Gifts;
  • Gifts of Appreciated Assets;
  • Gifts of Personal Property;
  • Gifts of Life Insurance.

Gifts from your Will – Bequests

Through a provision in your written and executed will or living trust, you can make a planned gift (or an outright gift) to First Congregational UCC, Boulder in the form of cash, securities, real estate, or personal property. There are many types of bequests. Consult with your attorney and other professional advisors to choose the one that best fits your needs and intentions.

If you’d like to speak to someone from the church’s Endowment Committee directly, please contact our church office, (303) 442-1787.

Miss Jessie Society

A framed portrait photo of an elderly womanNamed for longtime church member Jessie Fitzpatrick, the Miss Jessie Society honors church members and friends who have included a legacy gift to our Endowment Funds, either through estate Planned Giving or through a contribution to the Give While You Live campaign.

The bequest to the church of Miss Jessie’s home in 2015 expanded our Endowment substantially, and enabled us to understand it as a significant resource for ensuring our congregation’s stability and growth.
