All are invited to this year’s Men’s and Friends’ Retreat, to be held March 8-10. The theme for this year’s retreat is Five Hard Lessons. For thousands of years, many societies “initiated” young men into society, and all such initiation ceremonies taught five important lessons. The practice of initiating young men into community has been lost in our Western culture, but we will discuss these lessons and how each of us might have learned them the hard way. Richard Rohr’s book “Adam’s Return” serves as the basis of our retreat.
LOCATION: YMCA Estes Park (not Winter Park). We’ll have exclusive use of the Hyde Barclay Reunion Cabin, which means all our retreat sessions and meals will be in the same building. This also means we’ll be continuing our old tradition of preparing and cooking our own meals. Everyone will serve on a cooking/cleaning team.
COST: $180 (shared room and meals). Scholarships are available. (We want to make sure cost is not a barrier, so if you want to come and need financial assistance please let Pedro know.) Please send a check to the church, payable to First Congregational Church Boulder, with “Men’s Retreat” in the MEMO line or pay with Credit/Debit Card via our website or Text2Give by simply texting “joy2givefcc 180” to the number 73256 and follow the instructions. BE SURE TO SELECT MEN’S RETREAT FROM THE DROPDOWN MENU WHEN YOU PAY.
Once registrations close out, we will send out a packet of information with times, activities, etc. If you have questions, contact Pedro Silva, 303-442-1787 x-102, firstname.lastname@example.org.
