Worship is the center of our life together in God. We sing the old hymns we’ve loved for generations, but with more inclusive language, as well as new songs, sometimes from other parts of the world. We pray for one another and for the needs of our broken and weary world. We look to Jesus as both an exemplar of our faith and a window into the very heart of God. We open the pages of Scripture, and receive its invitation to imagine and question, to doubt and discern, to wrestle and wonder about what it has to say to us about who we are, who God is, and how God wants us to live. We give thanks for the ways this ancient text links us to a wide circle, the generations of faithful people who have gone before us and the millions around the world seeking to follow the way of Christ, and who, like us, find in God’s story the love that gives our lives meaning, purpose, identity, comfort, and courage.
We believe this story is unfinished, which means that our still-speaking God is continually inviting us to participate in it, to allow our lives to be subplots of the grand narrative, and to make our own contributions to its ongoing unfolding epic. Through our worship, the hearts and hands of young and old are shaped for God’s justice and joy. Blessed by our time together, by the good company we share, and by God’s overflowing grace, we are sent out to be a blessing to others.
