Worship Ushers
Ushers provide hospitality to all through greeting, handing out bulletins, providing directions and assisting in simple tasks to ensure worship and other services go smoothly. Ushers arrive 30 minutes before the beginning of a service and stay until the end. Coordinator: Tom Woods.
Sunday Morning Safety Coordinator
The role of Safety Coordinator was developed a few years before COVID, and the Safety Coordinator monitors people coming and going during the worship service, knows where medical volunteers are sitting and where a wheelchair, AED, and first aid kit are located, and where exits are located. While the most likely event of concern is a medical situation, our Emergency Operations Plan includes information about fire and personal disruption/violence situations as well. Training is provided in De-Escalation techniques, Active Shooter responses, and CPR. Safety Coordinators “coordinate” activity, communicate with critical partners (ministers, CE Director, outside agencies such as police or fire, etc.), but are not expected to confront a violent actor. For more information, contact Kelly McDevitt or Eric Nickell, Co-Chairs of the Safety Team.
Community Table Host
Every Friday from 4:00-6:00 p.m. in Plymouth Hall, First Cong partners with Bridge House, Community Table and other Pine Street churches to provide weekday evening meals to Boulder’s unhoused community. Bridge House provides set up, the hot meal, and completes clean-up. We provide a host. Contact Linda Kowatch.
Soup Kitchen Volunteers
On the fourth Sunday of each month, we provide hospitality and prepare and serve breakfast and a hot lunch to Boulder’s unhoused community. Eight adult volunteers are needed to work each shift. Kids and youth are welcome to help, but need to attend with their adult partner. Training is provided while you serve. The first shift is 9:00-11:30 a.m. to prepare and serve the meal. The second shift, 11:30 a.m.-2:00 p.m., serves and cleans up. Contact Soo Rhee.
