Linda Kowatch
Associate Minister
Linda served as our seminary intern from September 2020 – December 2021. She was called as our Interim Associate Minister beginning February 1, 2022. Linda came to us from Indiana where she grew up in a family that emphasized education. As a twelve year old she made a profession of faith and dedicated her life to serving God. She valued education, but also had a love for the church and wanted to serve the church in a formal capacity. Growing up in a Christian faith tradition that didn’t allow women to pursue a clergy calling, she majored in education and became a teacher and administrator. Throughout her 20-year career in education Linda still always felt called to serve the church. After reconciling her faith with her God-created identity, she was welcomed into a church that encouraged all children of God to serve the church. She served in various lay leadership roles such as youth leader, deacon, chair of the evangelism ministry and as a member of the board of elders. She continued to hear God calling her to pursue ordination.
A former pastor encouraged Linda to apply to Lexington Theological Seminary. She took her first class to test the waters of seminary while maintaining a full-time teaching position. Immediately she felt like she had landed where God created her to be. At the end of that school year Linda left teaching to pursue an MDiv at LTS full-time. Linda completed her MDiv in December of 2021.
Linda shares that God is so much bigger than the God she met as a pre-teen. She sees studying theology as an act of love because as our understanding and language of God expands, our relationship with God, others and all of creation becomes more loving and just. Linda has learned to embrace her gifts of administration as tools equipping her to minister through “organizing the love.”
Linda loves working at the church. She also enjoys all things sports including Notre Dame Women’s Basketball and all things CU Boulder – Go Buffs! She enjoys the mountains, golfing, traveling, national parks and being with people.
