Gmail Phishing Scam
Posted on: November 22, 2024
We have noticed that the holiday season is a time when phishing scammers are especially active. You may have even received a suspicious email this past week from someone posing as Chris Braudaway-Bauman. Churches are frequent targets, and scammers can be tricky. To keep yourself safe, please remember that no member of the church staff will ever use a gmail address to contact you. If the message is not from a firstcong.net address, it isn’t us. A request for gift cards is an even more telling sign that it’s a scam. We will never ask you to purchase gift cards. If you receive an email from the church that seems strange, but you’re not sure, please contact the church office for reassurance.
