Join Us for a Martin Luther King Celebration on Sunday, January 19
Contemplative Prayer Worship, 8:30 a.m. – Chapel
Gather for a quiet service of readings by Martin Luther King, Jr., extended moments of silence, African American Spirituals, and songs of the Civil Rights Movement.
Forum: What Did MLK Jr. Say About Native Peoples in the US, 9:15 AM – Standish Room
Join the Racial Justice Ministry on MLK Jr Weekend to discuss his writing on Native Peoples in the US. Learn how the Civil Rights Movement and Indigenous Americans are interconnected in their fight
for freedom. Also, be reminded of MLK Jr.’s vision of the Beloved Community, a reflection of God’s vision for all people.
Service of Justice and Peace, 10:30 a.m. – Sanctuary and YouTube
Hear from our pilgrims who traveled to the sites of the Sand Creek Massacre, the Koshare Museum of Native American Art, Fort Bent, and Amache, the WWII Japanese American Internment Camp. Together we will explore what we learned and what we as a community are being called to do as we continue in our work for Racial Justice.
