We’re delighted to have this opportunity to share with you what has made First Congregational Church, Boulder such an important part of our lives. And we hope that after learning more about our church, one day soon we will have the opportunity to welcome you into our community of faith.

What first attracted us to First Congregational over thirty years ago has only deepened and grown in the years since. It is a diverse, multi-generational, dynamic and growing community, and that sense of community is one of the most important things to us. We feel part of something meaningful and active, with shared values of open-ness, diversity, commitment, and involvement.

Both of us were raised in churches that emphasized God’s love and taught us to serve and care for one another – in our communities and in our world. We found here people with the same values who come from a wide range of religious experiences – or no experience of religion at all. There is no one doctrine here – just a community of people seeking to learn and work together to extend God’s love to all and to follow the example of welcome and care as taught to us by Jesus.

We are first and foremost a community of shared caring and support. We gather to do and to learn, to be enriched in our interconnectedness with the social and natural worlds. Our weekly worship services and many special services enrich our lives through common focus on things beyond the everyday, but at the same time keep us grounded in our lives in profound ways. And we enjoy having fun with each other with a wide variety of social opportunities that bring new and long-time members of the community together in fellowship and deepen our relationships.

We participate in this church so that we know we are not alone in this world! We come to church on Sunday to be in a different space – to watch the light play through the simple stained-glass windows while music from a beautiful organ vibrates our senses. We come to listen to scripture and to learn from truly outstanding sermons, to pray together and to sing together the hymns, old and new, that stir our souls. We come to work with others to do good in this world, to advocate for social and racial justice, address climate issues, and reduce gun violence. Together we support the work of non-profits in our communities through gifts, grants and volunteering. We come to enjoy fellowship. In short, we find meaning in supporting the work of this church with our time, our talents and our financial resources.

Here you will find an energetic, creative, caring, and dedicated congregation – powered by love, delighting in the fellowship we enjoy with each other, and eager to welcome you.

We want our church to grow, not just to grow – but to share it! We want those who are searching for a church home to learn what is available here and to enjoy the benefits of fellowship that have made us thankful members these many years – with many more to come!
