There’s danger in comparisons. How often did my appetite increase when Mom said, “Think of the poor starving children in Armenia”? Not ever.
Sure, there are folks in the church who give more than I do. And plenty of pledgers give less. Does that make them richer or poorer than me? Ultimately, comparisons will not feed my soul. I am nourished when I am expressing my talents. I can play ukulele and admire textiles, while others sing along or create quilts. My financial commitment to this church pays for salaries and supplies, joining with others to expand our vision. Together we transform lives, grounded in love and joy.
Creator and Sustainer, open my eyes to the blessings I take for granted. Ground me
in your abundant generosity that is here to share with others. Amen.
