December 11
Congregation Bonai Shalom will have its annual Gun Violence Prevention Shabbat during the weekly Saturday morning prayer service. The special service will include State Representative Judy Amabile (Colorado House District 13) speaking about what brought her to become a gun violence prevention advocate as a citizen and a legislator, reading of the names of Sandy Hook and King Soopers victims, and reading of a prayer written by Rabbi Rick Sherwin in the aftermath of the Sandy Hook mass murder. The regular service will begin at 9:30 AM and end at noon, and the special service will begin at about 11:00 AM.
December 14
St. John’s Episcopal Church will toll its church bells beginning at 10 am. Before that time, members of St. John’s gun violence prevention network will read the names of the victims and offer prayers for the repose of their souls and for their families and friends left behind. The event will also recognize the call to work toward a safer, more peaceful world. All are invited to join us near the church chapel at 9:30 in remembrance or, wherever you may be, to hold those lost or suffering in your prayers while the bells toll.
