Burke and Vivian will be participating in various church activities as Artists in Residence and in Boulder’s Indigenous Peoples Day Celebration.
Burke and Vivian are accomplished artists who live in White Cone, AZ. Burke was born in Ft. Defiance, AZ and was raised in Canyon de Chelly. He began painting at the age of eight and through his intricate paintings, tells stories from the Navajo tradition and the ancient ones who inhabited his homeland long before his people. Vivian Burbank, born in Jeddito, AZ, is a member of the Navajo and Tiwa tribes and is known for beautiful beadwork jewelry.
In addition to interactions with the church, Burke will be creating a new piece of art for our permanent collection.
Please come and meet Burke and Vivian during the First Friday reception on October 4th when they will be displaying and selling their art. On October 13th, Burke and Vivian will discuss Navajo Art and Culture in Canyon de Chelly during Meeting-in-the-Middle. Burke gift to us will be dedicated during the service followed by an Art display and sale during Coffee Hour.
