This year Music Sunday will look a bit different. The Chancel Choir is not performing a larger work like we normally do. Instead, you will see us performing in a larger group than only 8 singers, which is the limit of the recording app that Kajsa has been using through this past year. In order to go through with this project, we started rehearsing Christmas music in beginning of September! It did feel a bit funny. As time went one, we figured out what needed to be done in what order. With Phil Braudaway-Bauman’s help, Kajsa started recording the piano accompaniments, and they were all uploaded to the cloud. Each choir member was given access to the recordings, and encouraged to record themselves from home, both audio and video. This is no small task. Eventually we figured out how to get everyone’s recordings uploaded, and then Chris Shearer Cooper started mixing everything together. Who knows how many hours he has spent on this project, but it is for sure more than 200.
I am so grateful to all of the choir members that went out on a limb to make this project happen. Their hard work and dedication to the choir is amazing. As a chorister, it is not easy to suddenly sing all by yourself, without any support from your fellow singers. They all took a huge leap of faith, and here is the result. I hope you enjoy our Music Sunday 2020, and find the music as comforting and inspiring as we do.
