Current Volunteer Opportunities!

Ushers

Ushers provide hospitality to all through greeting, handing out bulletins, providing directions and assisting in simple tasks to ensure worship and other services go smoothly.  Ushers arrive 30 minutes before the beginning of a service and stay until the end.  Sign-up here.  If you have an problems in the sign up process, please email linda@firstcong.net.

Safety Coordinator:

The role of Safety Coordinator was developed a few years before Covid, and the Safety Coordinator monitors people coming and going during the worship service, knows where medical volunteers are sitting and where a wheelchair, AED, and first aid kit are located, and where exits are located.  While the most likely event of concern is a medical situation, our Emergency Operations Plan includes information about fire and personal disruption/violence situations as well.  Training is provided in De-Escalation techniques, Active Shooter responses, and CPR.  Safety Coordinators “coordinate” activity, communicate with critical partners (ministers, CE Director, outside agencies such as police or fire, etc.), but are not expected to confront a violent actor.  For more information, contact Kelly McDevitt or Bob Matthias, Co-Chairs of the Safety Team.

Soup Kitchen Volunteers Needed

We need your help!  Soup Kitchen is the 4th Sunday of each month and we need volunteers to work each shift. We will train you on the spot. There is no need to be nervous! The first shift is 9:00-11:30am and you will help prepare food and serve it. The second shift is 11:30a-2:00pm and you will serve food and clean up.  Sign up here as an individual, family or small group. If you have questions about Soup Kitchen contact: Soo Rhee soo.rhee@colorado.edu

Technology Team:

The use of live streaming for worship services and Zoom for meetings of boards, committees, and small groups has created some challenging technology situations. A significant benefit of these developments is that people who have not been able to participate in services or meetings have come to rely on this avenue for participation, and we love having that opportunity!  The church has retained a small team of hourly technology assistants to help with Sunday worship and other special events, but there are not enough of them to provide assistance with hybrid board and committee meetings, Sunday morning forums, and other events we are holding on Zoom. It would help to have some technology-savvy folks to help with meeting set-up, problem solving, etc. Ideally, someone from every board or other group that meets regularly would have a member willing to be trained and serve in this role. And even if you’re not on a board or in another group, but just love technology, this would be a great way to participate in the life of our congregation! For more information, contact Linda Kowatch.
